Amazon Unveils €15 Billion Investment Plan in France Creating Over 7,000 New Jobs

Amazon has announced a landmark investment of over €15 billion in France over the next three years, planning to create more than 7,000 permanent jobs through expanding its logistics infrastructure. This is the company’s largest investment in the country to date, increasing its total French investment since 2010 to over €30 billion.

The expansion includes the opening of three new distribution centers in Illiers-Combray (Eure-et-Loir), Beauvais (Oise), and Colombier-Saugnieu (Rhône), generating 1,000, 1,000, and 3,000 jobs respectively. A fourth center in Ensisheim (Haut-Rhin) is slated to open by the end of 2027, expected to create an additional 2,000 jobs. This facility will be one of the largest logistics sites in Europe for Amazon, spanning 189,000 square meters over three levels.

Jean-Baptiste Thomas, Amazon’s General Director in France, highlighted the investment as a commitment to enhancing French consumer experience by providing faster deliveries, wider product selections, and lower prices, while also improving environmental impact through a localized logistics network. The plan integrates advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics to enhance workplace safety and operational efficiency. Amazon also promises competitive salaries and extensive training for its employees.

Nicolas Forissier, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Attractiveness, praised the investment as a testament to France’s appeal for long-term business commitments, projecting significant economic benefits. The new logistics network is expected to generate millions in local taxes and support thousands of French businesses reliant on Amazon's marketplace and technology platforms.

Additionally, Amazon reaffirmed its sustainability goals with a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, focusing investments on reducing delivery distances and emissions through advanced sustainable logistics practices.
