Bordeaux Commercial Court Validates Financial Viability of Girondins de Bordeaux, Urges FFF to Reconsider National 1 Status

The Bordeaux Commercial Court has officially confirmed the financial viability of the Girondins de Bordeaux football club, a pivotal development amid the team's turbulent recent history. In its ruling, the court invited the French Football Federation (FFF) to reconsider the club’s eligibility to participate in National 1, the third tier of French football.

This decision follows the FFF's previous ban on the renowned club from national championships due to significant financial mismanagement. Despite the court’s recommendation, the FFF is not obligated to change its stance.

The club, historically a heavyweight in French football with six league titles, faced considerable setbacks after being relegated from Ligue 1 to Ligue 2 in 2022 and subsequently placed under judicial recovery in 2024.
