Brest is set to host the French Gaelic Football Championships for the first time this weekend, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the Gaelic Football Bro Léon club. This major event will feature a record 48 teams competing, highlighting the growing popularity of Gaelic football in France. The women's championship begins with three days of matches, culminating in the title decision on Saturday, while the men's competitions will be held in a one-day format.

Nathan Bégoc, president of the Gaelic Football Bro Léon, noted the significance of this debut in Brest and the extensive preparation that has gone into organizing it. A dedicated team of about twelve members has worked for two years to plan the event, aided by around one hundred volunteers. The club has set ambitious goals, with the women's team aiming for a mid-table finish and a new collaboration with the Rostrenen club, while the men's team aspires to claim the national title in Division 2 after their recent Brittany championship win.

Matches will begin at 9 AM across four sports complexes, with free entry and refreshments on site. Bégoc believes this event will enhance the club’s image in France and lead to increased membership through initiation sessions starting June 16.
