Brigitte Bardot’s Funeral Brings Family and Supporters Together in Saint-Tropez

Brigitte Bardot, the iconic French actress and advocate, passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 91 after a battle with cancer, as revealed by her husband Bernard d’Ormale. Bardot’s funeral was held on January 7, 2026, at 11 AM in the Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church in Saint-Tropez, where she was a beloved figure and longtime resident.

Her husband described Bardot’s final months as filled with strength and awareness, noting her concerns about farmers and animal welfare remained until the end. Though her health deteriorated, Bardot found a moment of serenity in her last moments, with d’Ormale recalling a beauty reminiscent of her youth.

The funeral ceremony reflected Bardot’s wishes for simplicity and was by invitation only, attended by close family members including her son Nicolas Charrier, granddaughter Thea, and great-grandchildren. Despite Bardot’s expressed desire to be buried at her villa La Madrague, concerns about increased tourism led to the decision to inter her privately at the small marine cemetery by the Mediterranean. The burial was planned to follow the church ceremony with a procession leading to the seaside cemetery.
