Candy Brière-Vétillard to Represent France in Tumbling at World Games

Candy Brière-Vétillard, a 21-year-old athlete from Le Mans, will proudly represent France in the tumbling discipline at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China. Following her impressive victory as world champion in tumbling in July 2025 in Portugal, Candy enters this prestigious competition as a favorite. The World Games, held every four years, feature the top athletes from eight nations, showcasing the best male and female performers in this lesser-known sport.

Executing her routine on a 25-meter track, Candy will perform eight jumps at astonishing speeds of up to 30 km/h, reaching heights of three meters. Her coach, Yves Tarrin, highlights the extensive preparation needed to perfect such a brief yet intense routine, stressing the importance of precision to avoid costly mistakes.

Although Candy relishes the cultural experience and camaraderie expected in China, similar to the Olympics, she acknowledges the financial struggles of tumbling, where competition prizes average around 1,500 euros, insufficient for a stable livelihood. To balance her passion with practicality, she trains rigorously for three hours daily while managing civic service commitments and coaching training. She is currently seeking employment flexible enough to support her demanding training regimen. Additionally, the Acro Sarthe club will host a discovery stage on August 25 and 26 for aspiring tumblers, expanding interest in the sport.
