CMA CGM to Acquire FedEx Supply Chain in $1.4 Billion Deal Expanding North American Logistics

French shipping giant CMA CGM announced on July 1, 2026, its acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain, the North American logistics subsidiary of FedEx, for $1.4 billion. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the year, pending regulatory approvals.

This acquisition forms part of a broader strategic agreement totaling approximately $5 billion, which also includes long-term commercial partnerships in air freight and maritime transport valued at $3.5 billion over ten years. Under this agreement, CMA CGM will become FedEx's preferred maritime partner through a non-exclusive partnership, while both companies will collaborate to enhance air freight coverage and optimize fleet utilization.

By acquiring FedEx Supply Chain, CMA CGM intends to triple the size of its North American logistics operations managed by its subsidiary CEVA Logistics. The combined entity will oversee around 150 warehouses and employ nearly 20,000 people across the region. CMA CGM’s CEO, Rodolphe Saadé, described the acquisition and accompanying partnerships as a major milestone in expanding CEVA Logistics’ operations within North America.

The partnership will allow CMA CGM to leverage FedEx’s extensive network, improving shipping efficiency and capacity in key markets. This deal significantly boosts the French company’s footprint in North American logistics, positioning it as a leading player in the sector.

Given the strategic scale of this acquisition and the associated partnerships, the move marks a significant strengthening of CMA CGM's global logistics capabilities, especially within highly competitive North American markets. The acquisition and partnerships are anticipated to reshape logistics operations and service offerings between the two companies in the coming decade.
