Key Points

  • • Launch of 'Connect France' initiative at Paris Air Show
  • • Partnership involving Air France-KLM, Groupe ADP, and the French government
  • • Introduction of a 'short connection pass' set for Summer 2025
  • • Commitment to increasing sustainable aviation fuel use

The 'Connect France' initiative was officially launched at the 55th International Paris Air Show on June 21, 2025, aiming to enhance the global connectivity and competitiveness of Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). This collaborative effort involves Air France-KLM, Groupe ADP, and the French government, responding to the growing competition faced by European airlines from non-European carriers. Benjamin Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM, highlighted the importance of this partnership to maintain high-quality services, stating, "Only by working together will we maintain our services and connectivity."

Key elements of the initiative include the introduction of a 'short connection pass' planned for Summer 2025, designed to expedite passenger transfers. Additionally, a target has been set for a 95% wide-body aircraft contact rate at peak times by 2026, alongside terminal redesigns aimed at improving passenger flow and navigation.

The initiative also emphasizes sustainability, focusing on increasing the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and establishing low-carbon energy solutions. A unique 'Flagship France' experience will be established in Hall K of CDG to showcase French culture and luxury, with the overarching goal of reshaping the airport's reputation as a leading aviation hub and safeguarding France's economic sovereignty. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in protecting the 870,000 jobs tied to the airport, which accounts for 11% of France's export value. Updates on progress are anticipated in the coming months.
