Deadly Fire in Neuves-Maisons Claims Four Lives and Injures Two

A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of November 30, 2025, in Neuves-Maisons, a town in Meurthe-et-Moselle, resulting in four deaths and two injuries. The blaze occurred around 3:15 a.m. at a three-level building on Rue du Capitaine-Caillon, which also housed a store on the ground floor.

The victims of the incident include a 59-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, a 20-year-old young woman, and a 16-year-old adolescent. Two other people sustained injuries: a 16-year-old boy who is in critical condition and a 21-year-old man who suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation.

Firefighters swiftly responded to the emergency, mobilizing approximately 70 firefighters and nearly 30 vehicles to control the flames. The fire was brought under control fairly quickly, although sadly, only two of the deceased could be evacuated from the building; the other two were found inside their residence.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Neuves-Maisons is a community with about 7,000 residents located southwest of Nancy. The authorities are continuing investigations into the incident, while emergency services focus on caring for the wounded. This tragic event has cast a somber mood over the town and highlighted the challenges faced by first responders in managing such sudden disasters.
