Didier Daulhac Crowned French Veterans Champion in Quille de Huit, Dedicates Victory to His Father

On August 16, Didier Daulhac from Cransac-les-Thermes in northern Aveyron clinched the French veteran championship title in the traditional local sport quille de huit, finishing 13 quilles ahead of his nearest competitor. This championship marks a long-awaited achievement for Daulhac, who had narrowly missed the title in previous years, finishing close in 2010 and 2017 and placing fifth in the recent Aveyron individual veterans championship in July. Averaging a high score of 55 quilles during the competition, Daulhac nearly broke the longstanding record but fell short in the final segment, securing his victory nonetheless.

Daulhac dedicated his win to his father, who introduced him to quille de huit at a young age, expressing joy and pride in this accomplishment. Besides this latest title, he boasts an impressive record including two Aveyron Masters victories and a prior championship in quadrette. He also highlighted the significance of his club—the only quille de huit club in the region—which aims to build a quillodrome in Cransac to foster youth involvement.

Looking ahead, Daulhac prepares for the Master competition in Montpellier this September. His dedication and sustained excellence underscore both his personal commitment and the vibrancy of this traditional sport within the local French sporting landscape.
