France Clinches Silver in Men's 4x200m Relay with Record at 2026 European Swimming Championships

At the 2026 European Swimming Championships held at the Olympic Aquatic Center in Saint-Denis on August 10, the French men's 4x200m relay team earned a spectacular silver medal finish. The team, comprising Léon Marchand, Pierre Largeron, 16-year-old Sauveur Cristofini, and Roman Fuchs, narrowly missed gold to Great Britain but set a new French national record of 7:02.23.

Léon Marchand, a four-time Olympic champion, led off with an outstanding split of 1:43.76—the fastest time globally this year. Following Marchand, Largeron and Cristofini maintained the team’s momentum before Fuchs delivered a strong anchor leg. Fuchs notably overtook a German competitor toward the end to secure second place for France.

Expressing pride in his teammates’ efforts, Marchand said, "I am extremely proud of these guys," underscoring the collective spirit and talent that propelled France to this achievement.
