The Paris basin has also seen soaring daytime highs, such as 31°C in Paris and nearly 37°C in areas like Chantonnay and Surin. The region is scheduled to experience a retreat of extreme heat by Sunday, with thunderstorms projected primarily to affect Picardy on Saturday evening. Some parts of southeastern France are set to continue experiencing intense heat, but most of the country will begin to cool down post-weekend.
