France Mobilizes 90,000 Security Forces for New Year's Eve with Zero Tolerance on Disorder

As France welcomes New Year's Eve 2025, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has announced an extensive security operation to maintain public order during the nationwide celebrations. Approximately 90,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed across the country, including 10,000 in Paris and its suburbs, showcasing the government's commitment to a firm law enforcement presence.

Minister Nuñez vowed "systematic arrests" for individuals causing disturbances, stressing that while no excess will be tolerated, authorities expect possible attempts at urban violence. Reinforcing this hardline stance, Nuñez toured police stations and emergency services in Île-de-France to strengthen the message of vigilance. His resolve is informed by the previous New Year's Eve, which saw 984 vehicles set ablaze, 420 arrests, and 310 police custody cases, illustrating the challenges ahead.
