France Shines with 13 Medals at European Short Course Swimming Championships

The French swimming team concluded the 2025 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Lublin, Poland, with a strong performance, bringing home a total of 13 medals, including two golds.

Maxime Grousset was the standout athlete, capturing gold medals in both the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle events. He also earned a silver medal in the 50m freestyle, tying with Ukraine's Nikita Sheremet at 20.81 seconds, just behind Croatia's Jere Hribar who took gold with 20.70 seconds.

The French team added four silver medals on the final day, including Analia Pigrée's second place finish in the 50m backstroke with a time of 25.96 seconds. She was just behind Italy's Sara Curtis, who set a new European record at 25.49 seconds. Béryl Gastaldello won silver in the women's 50m freestyle, setting a new French national record of 23.41 seconds while narrowly missing gold to Poland's Katarzyna Wasick (23.20 seconds).

In the men's 4x50m medley relay, the French squad, including Grousset and Mewen Tomac, set a new national record with a time of 1:30.99, finishing second to Italy's 1:30.49. Despite the absence of star Léon Marchand, competing in the US Open in Texas, France showcased excellent depth and competitiveness.

Italy dominated the overall competition with 20 medals, including nine golds. Nevertheless, France’s haul of 13 medals, marked by record-setting performances and podium finishes, highlighted their strong presence at the championships.
