France Triples Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon and Provides Armored Vehicles Amid Rising Conflict

Following a sharp escalation of military operations in Lebanon beginning March 2, France has announced a significant increase in humanitarian support to the country. Approximately 760,000 people have been displaced due to conflict triggered by Hezbollah's missile strikes on Israel, which have led to nearly 500 deaths so far.

According to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, France will triple its humanitarian aid to Lebanon, delivering 60 tons of supplies to assist refugees mainly fleeing southern Lebanon. The aid includes sanitary and hygiene kits, mattresses, lamps, and mobile health posts. This effort is facilitated by the French shipping company CMA CGM Foundation.

In addition to humanitarian relief, France plans to supply several dozen armored vehicles to the Lebanese armed forces, which Barrot highlighted as the sole legitimate authority responsible for maintaining Lebanon's security. The minister condemned Hezbollah's attacks on Israel and called on the group to cease hostilities and surrender its weapons to Lebanese authorities, emphasizing the need for a unified and peaceful Lebanon.

This move underlines France's commitment to stabilizing the region through both humanitarian and security support amid ongoing violence.
