French Authorities Tighten Halloween 2025 Security Measures Amid Threats and Past Incidents

As Halloween 2025 unfolds, French authorities have implemented extensive security measures to ensure public safety and prevent incidents reminiscent of previous years. The Prefecture of Yvelines announced prohibitions effective from October 31 at 6 PM through early November 1 and beyond, banning automotive gatherings labeled “Rassemblement Halloween 2K25” on public roads across Yvelines. Additionally, from October 31 until November 3, musical festive gatherings and circulation of vehicles with sound equipment for unauthorized events are forbidden. Strict restrictions also cover fireworks and pyrotechnics, with sales, possession, and use prohibited from October 30 evening to November 2 morning, save for authorized public displays. The transport of domestic fuels and petroleum products in portable containers is banned unless police authorization is granted in emergencies. Law enforcement is mobilized to enforce these rules.

Complementing local measures, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez called on prefects to exercise heightened vigilance following years marked by property damage, and assaults on emergency responders during Halloween. In an October 24 telegram, Nuñez highlighted the high terrorist threat level in France, urging full security mobilization and recommending administrative measures preventing transport of fuels and explosives. Authorities are focused on detecting and dismantling illegal gatherings and ensuring public order throughout the festivities.
