French Ice Dancers Cizeron and Fournier Beaudry Take Lead with Rhythm Dance Win at 2026 Winter Olympics

At the 2026 Winter Olympics held in Milan, French ice dancers Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry claimed the top spot in the rhythm dance event, positioning themselves strongly for the gold medal. On February 9, they delivered an outstanding performance set to Madonna's "Vogue," achieving a score of 90.18 points, surpassing their previous best score of 89.98 points achieved during the team event. This score edged out American rivals Madison Chock and Evan Bates, who earned 89.72 points, with the Canadian duo Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier trailing in third place with 86.18 points.

The French pair, who have been skating together for just one year, expressed their excitement and relief after their routine. Guillaume Cizeron commented, "We are super happy, it’s a beautiful first victory with this program that has been challenging for us." Laurence Fournier Beaudry added that they felt more liberated during their skating.

Looking ahead, Cizeron and Fournier Beaudry are set to compete in the free dance event scheduled for February 11, where they aim to maintain their lead and secure the Olympic gold medal.
