French Initiative Boosts Entrepreneurship in Circular Economy and Blue Sectors

The CCI Nice Côte d’Azur has launched a call for applications for its DEVELOP program, targeting individuals wishing to create or grow micro-enterprises in tourism, blue economy, and circular economy sectors. This initiative is part of the Interreg Italy-France Maritime 2021-2027 project, aiming to enhance entrepreneurial skills and regional cooperation. The program offers 14 hours of in-person training covering essential topics such as management, marketing, finance, leadership, and legal structures. Participants will receive a state-recognized certificate upon successful completion.

The training, scheduled between May and September in Nice, prepares seven selected entrepreneurs by equipping them with practical tools to develop viable business models. Post-training, individualized support will help refine business plans and solidify project viability. This approach ensures practical implementation beyond theoretical knowledge.

Complementary to this French initiative, the European TREASoURcE project demonstrates how circular economy solutions can move beyond pilot stages through stakeholder collaboration and applied testing. Key pilots involved repurposing electric vehicle batteries for energy storage in Finland and Norway while showcasing integrated chemical and mechanical recycling methods for plastics. TREASoURcE also developed a digital marketplace linking biobased material producers with users across rural and urban areas, emphasizing broad applicability.

The synergy between national entrepreneurship support and continental circular economy innovation reflects France's commitment to sustainable economic development. Through practical training and real-world demonstrations, these programs promote the transition towards more resilient, circular business models.
