French Political Trust Ratings in July 2026 Show Macron’s Modest Rise and Bardella’s Popularity Lead

In July 2026, a recent Elabe poll reveals notable shifts in French public trust towards key political figures as the country approaches the 2027 presidential election. President Emmanuel Macron’s trust level increased slightly to 24%, marking a recovery from the 2025 political crisis. However, a significant 71% of respondents still express distrust, with 48% stating they have "no trust at all." Macron’s support is strongest among his own voters—64% from first-round voters and 46% from second-round voters—and among young people aged 18-25, where trust reaches 36%.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s trust rating remains at 24% but has fallen by two points over the past two months. Distrust towards him stands at 63%, including 35% with no trust whatsoever. Lecornu’s support is primarily from right-leaning voters, notably 43% from Valérie Pécresse’s supporters.

In terms of overall popularity, Jordan Bardella of the Rassemblement national leads among political figures with a 36% approval rating, ahead of Marine Le Pen, whose popularity declined by four points to 34% following her recent appeal conviction. Despite the drop, Le Pen remains the second-most popular political figure. On the left, François Ruffin commands a 45% trust rating among his supporters, leading over Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s 42%.

This survey, conducted online with a representative sample of metropolitan French adults, highlights a complex landscape where Macron’s approval is gradually rebounding even as distrust remains high, Lecornu faces slipping support, and Bardella consolidates his position as the most popular political figure.
