The 2026 World Sailing Championships in Quiberon, Brittany, have drawn nearly 400 sailors from 35 nations, highlighting a crucial stage in preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Running through May 17, the event features qualification races culminating in finals. France, hosting the World Championships in an Olympic sailing discipline for the first time in thirteen years, aims to leverage home waters to boost team selection chances.

French Olympic sailor Tim Mourniac, who placed fifth in the last Games, described competing near home as a privilege for their "very lucky generation." Event organizer Alain Champy praised the Quiberon bay as one of the world's premier sailing venues for versatility and natural beauty. French competitors like Émile Amoros stressed the urgency of performing well at the championships to secure their Olympic spots.
