French Team of 330 Athletes Ready for 2026 Mediterranean Games in Tarente

The 20th Mediterranean Games, set to take place in Tarente, Italy, from August 21 to September 3, 2026, will feature a robust French delegation of 330 athletes. These competitors, including 152 women and 178 men, will participate in 26 of the 30 sports disciplines at the event, excluding football, handball, tennis, and swimming. Highlighting the high level of the team, 32 of the athletes are Olympians.

Among the delegation, the youngest athlete is 14-year-old fin swimmer Juliette Douyere, while the oldest is 47-year-old marksman Antonin Desert, with the average age across the team being 24 years. Notable French competitors include track athletes Sacha Alessandrini in the 100m hurdles and Amandine Brossier in the 400m, as well as boxer Davina Michel. The French team also features athletes from fencing, wrestling, taekwondo, cycling—including selections like Émilien Jacquelin, Clément Ducos, and Jules Rolland—and table tennis.

The French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) will announce the delegation’s flag bearers on August 17. France enters this edition with strong ambitions following its third-place finish at the 2022 Games in Oran, Algeria, where it won 81 medals, including 21 gold.

This wide-ranging and vibrant French delegation reflects the country's commitment to maintaining its standing in Mediterranean sports competitions and showcasing a blend of seasoned Olympians and promising young athletes across diverse disciplines.
