French Women's Rugby Team Embraces New Energy Ahead of Six Nations

As the 2026 Women's Six Nations Tournament approaches, the French women's rugby team, XV de France, is energized under new leadership and keen to make a mark after last year's disappointing World Cup performance. Captain Manae Feleu expressed optimism about the new cycle beginning with coach François Ratier's appointment, highlighting a "new dynamic taking shape" within the team.

The Six Nations will kick off on April 11 against Italy in Grenoble, following an intensive training camp at Marcoussis. Feleu emphasized the team's ambition and desire to not only defend strongly but also to entertain fans with their attacking play, saying, "We approach it with ambition and a lot of desire. There is a new dynamic taking shape, and everyone is eager to show what we are capable of."

Reflecting on the past, Feleu also shared the emotional challenge she faced after receiving a red card in the 2025 World Cup quarter-finals, which abruptly ended her tournament. "To be honest, it was quite hard. I had my quota in rugby, and I struggled to digest my forced end to the World Cup," she admitted. The red card was easier to cope with during the tournament but became much harder to accept afterward.

With renewed leadership and a fresh outlook, the French women's rugby team is gearing up to impress in this year's Six Nations, aiming to rebuild confidence and deliver performances that will "give pleasure to the people," as Captain Feleu puts it.
