Gabriel Attal Launches 2027 Presidential Campaign Highlighting Key Opponents and Vision for France

Gabriel Attal officially launched his campaign for the 2027 French presidential election during a high-profile meeting held at the Parc des expositions de la porte de Versailles in Paris. The former Prime Minister framed the electoral contest primarily as a struggle against two main political adversaries: the left-wing France Insoumise and the far-right Rassemblement national.

Attal expressed strong confidence in his prospects, declaring, “We will win this presidential election, we have a year ahead of us.” He called for empowering French citizens through regular referendums to overcome what he called a "vetocracy," aiming to give people more direct say in governance. Attal dismissed the ongoing debate on the legal retirement age as outdated, emphasizing a forward-looking agenda.

One of his campaign pillars is the ambition to position France as a global leader in artificial intelligence, stating, “making France the homeland of AI.” On international matters, he warned of continued Russian aggression if Ukraine were to fall, signaling his attention to geopolitical security.

On immigration, Attal rejected both the notion of zero immigration as unrealistic and undesirable, and the idea of completely open borders. He also pledged to increase salaries and end economic policies that place burdens on future generations, asserting, “economies on the backs of our children are over.”

Throughout his speech, Attal reinforced themes of action and hope, contrasting his approach with what he described as others relying on "blood and tears," asserting, “I promise action and hope.” He also outlined four key areas critical to combating extreme political ideologies and advancing the promise of upward social mobility in France.
