Key Points

  • • J14 and J16 qualifiers held at Lac du Causse in Brive on June 14-15.
  • • J16 women's boat finished fifth and will not advance to Vichy.
  • • J14 mixed four secured fourth place and qualified for French championships.
  • • Team improvements noted under coach Luc Portes.

The recent J14 and J16 rowing qualifiers took place on June 14-15 at Lac du Causse in Brive, where Grisolles entered two teams: a J16 women's boat and a mixed J14 four. The J16 women's crew, including Cléa Couzinié and Flora Chachuat, faced a challenge with a last-minute replacement as Flora joined the team after only beginning her rowing journey in February. Despite their efforts, they finished fifth in the A final, which means they will not advance to the French championships in Vichy.

In contrast, the J14 mixed four, featuring Louis Ferrié as coxswain and teammates Kenza Portes, Erwan Ménard, Cléa Fauré, and Sacha Marécaux, demonstrated remarkable skills. They secured a solid fourth place in the A final after ranking third in their previous series, thus clinching their qualification for the French championships scheduled later this month at the same venue in Brive. Coach Luc Portes praised the team's significant improvement leading to this accomplishment, reflecting their hard work throughout the season.
