As summer 2025 approaches, the Concurrence, Consommation et Répression des Fraudes (CCRF) in the Lot department is set to enhance regulatory inspections of tourism-related businesses from June until September. These inspections will focus on establishing compliance among commercial restaurants, hotels, and campsites, reflecting an effort to safeguard consumer interests and prevent fraud. Following last summer's inspections of 100 establishments, it was revealed that 63% failed to meet regulatory standards. Out of those, 80% resulted in educational interventions, while 20% required businesses to take corrective actions.
This year's inspections will scrutinize both food and non-food products, with a specific emphasis on local specialties, such as foie gras and truffles, to ensure their authenticity. The inspections will also include evaluations of the safety equipment and recreational facilities offered by these accommodations. Consumers are encouraged to utilize the SignalConso platform to report any issues they face during their tourist experiences, bolstering consumer protection measures in the region.
