Jérôme Guedj, the Socialist Party deputy from Essonne, officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming left-wing presidential primary ahead of the 2027 French election. Expressing regret that no clear programmatic foundation was established prior to candidate declarations, Guedj aims for the primary to enable the republican left to break free from what he describes as the "Mélenchonist grip."

Having announced his candidacy since February 5, Guedj confirmed his participation in the primary organized by his party and Place publique, pledging to take his full place in a sincere selection process. He seeks to mobilize hundreds of thousands of voters to take part in the primary and is prepared to demonstrate his credentials in televised debates.
