As the 2026 municipal elections approach, several French regions reveal notable candidate submissions and party strategies shaping the upcoming political contests. In Aude, scheduled for March 15 and 22, 535 lists representing 8,120 candidates have been submitted, highlighting high engagement. The Rassemblement National (RN), led by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, is targeting major cities such as Carcassonne and Narbonne, aiming to secure its first mayoral seat in the department. In Côtes-d’Armor, 512 candidate lists were submitted encompassing 9,850 candidates. Out of 341 communes, 210 had only one list while 131 saw multiple contests; three communes even received no candidates, indicating variable local political dynamics.
