La Poste Cyberattack Lessens but Continues Amid Christmas Parcel Rush

On December 23, 2025, French Economy Minister Roland Lescure confirmed that the cyberattack targeting La Poste's online services has decreased in intensity but remains ongoing. The attack, identified as a denial-of-service incident, disrupts online mail tracking and banking services by overloading websites, making them inaccessible.

Despite these digital disruptions, La Poste has assured the public that physical delivery of parcels continues unabated during the crucial Christmas period when around 180 million packages are handled in the last two months of the year. Minister Lescure reassured customers that no personal data has been compromised amid the cyberattack. He highlighted that La Poste employees are working diligently, expressing confidence that timely delivery of Christmas parcels will be maintained.

La Banque Postale also faced temporary internal malfunctions affecting its online applications and websites, but payment services remained operational through SMS authentication and in-person banking channels such as post offices and ATMs. Cybersecurity expert Gérôme Billois noted a typical rise in cyberattacks at year's end, targeting individuals and, this year, extending to government ministries.

While online parcel tracking is currently unavailable, the ongoing efforts of postal employees provide reassurance that Christmas deliveries will arrive on schedule. The situation underscores the challenges of cybersecurity during peak operational periods but reflects resilience in maintaining critical services.
