Ligue 1 + to Broadcast All Matches Next Season as beIN Sports Steps Back

LFP Media is set to unveil a new broadcasting strategy on December 16 that includes the launch of "Ligue 1 +," a package offering 100% coverage of the French championship matches for the upcoming season. This move comes as beIN Sports is expected to cease broadcasting Ligue 1 games, allowing Ligue 1 + to air all fixtures.

While the comprehensive coverage by Ligue 1 + is anticipated to increase revenue, it is unlikely to reach the previous financial levels brought by beIN Sports, which had committed 78.5 million euros plus an additional 20 million euros from Qatari sponsors for the 2026-2027 season. The halt of payments from beIN Sports poses economic challenges, and the Ligue is not currently considering selling rights to another broadcaster.

In a related development, beIN Sports France secured a favorable judgment from the Paris judicial court requiring ISPs to block illegal streaming sites of the Africa Cup of Nations from December 21 until the tournament's end. This ruling is a significant step in beIN’s continuing global efforts to combat piracy and protect its broadcasting rights.
