Listeriosis Outbreak in France Linked to Drôme Ardèche Tradition Charcuterie Results in Two Deaths

French health authorities have identified twelve cases of listeriosis, including two fatal cases, linked to charcuterie products from the Drôme Ardèche Tradition brand. The victims who died were both over the age of 75, highlighting the particular risk to elderly populations. These cases were detected over a period spanning from September 2025 to January 2026.

In response to the outbreak, the company Drôme Ardèche Tradition has initiated a comprehensive withdrawal and recall of all products manufactured at its Bourg-de-Péage facility. This action is being carried out under the supervision of French state services to ensure the safety of consumers.

Alongside the recall, a prefectural order has been issued suspending the production activities of the company to prevent further exposure to contaminated products. French Ministries of Health and Agriculture have been closely involved in managing and monitoring the situation.

Public Health France is advising anyone who has consumed these charcuterie products and is experiencing symptoms to promptly seek medical attention. This outbreak has raised awareness about the dangers of listeriosis, especially among vulnerable populations such as the elderly.
