Macron Urges Political Responsibility Amid Alarming Rise in Political Violence in France

Sommier's recent study reveals a disturbing trend since 2017, with 2,300 incidents of political violence recorded over less than a decade — nearly half the number recorded during the previous thirty years from 1986 to 2017. Violence has intensified notably, with assaults having doubled and confrontations quintupling in frequency. Since 2022 alone, six deaths linked to radical right-wing activists have been reported, reflecting a serious escalation in the severity of attacks.
