Major Industrial Fire at Véolia Facility in Quimper

On August 3, 2025, a large industrial fire broke out at the Véolia waste processing facility in Quimper, France, beginning around 6 PM. The blaze engulfed a substantial area within a building measuring 2,200 square meters, which was primarily used for storing waste like paper, cardboard, and mattresses. A significant plume of smoke rose into the air, visible from a distance, leading to concerns among the local population.

The firefighting response was swift and substantial, involving 77 firefighters from the Service départemental d'incendie et de secours (SDIS). Emergency services worked diligently to control the flames, and by approximately 10:30 PM, they had successfully brought the fire under control.
