New Local Economic Initiatives in Saint-Thuriau and Rodez Boost Employment and Business Growth

Two significant local economic development initiatives have been launched in France, focusing on infrastructure expansion and strategic partnerships to enhance employment and support business growth.

In Saint-Thuriau, the Lann Velin Sud 2 business park was inaugurated on June 29. This development adds eight new hectares dedicated to the economy, expanding the existing Lann Velin Sud and Nord parks. The park features fourteen lots, ranging from 2,867 m2 to 9,996 m2, strategically situated near major transport routes leading to Lorient, Vannes, Saint-Brieuc, and Rennes. The project's total cost is €1.66 million, with a selling price of €40 per m2, deemed reasonable given the prime location. The park aims to attract artisan, industrial, and service businesses, with several projects already underway. Community engagement plans include organizing business breakfasts to foster connections among local business leaders. In addition, local developments such as communal housing, a new school, and a health center will support employees working in the new businesses. Soizic Perrault, president of Pontivy Communauté, highlighted the park's role in promoting economic and social development while emphasizing environmental considerations and job creation.

Meanwhile, in Rodez, Dominique Costes, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), signed partnership agreements with two local companies, JPM Bennes and SCP Europe, to strengthen the local economy and address workforce challenges. These partnerships provide students with internships, work-study programs, and real-world project experience while enabling companies to benefit from emerging talent aligned with their business needs. JPM Bennes, which employs around 300 people, will benefit from this collaboration to meet its workforce needs, while SCP Europe offers international experience opportunities to students. Costes underscored the importance of adapting education to market changes, with ongoing meetings aimed at aligning training programs with industry demands.

These initiatives illustrate the proactive steps taken in French localities to stimulate economic growth through infrastructure development and collaborations between educational institutions and businesses, ultimately bolstering employment and regional prosperity.
