Nicolas Depoortere Faces Season-Ending Injury, Impacting UBB's Championship Aspirations

Nicolas Depoortere, the 23-year-old center for Union Bordeaux-Bègles (UBB) and France's national team, has sustained a right shoulder dislocation during the recent match against Scotland. Following an MRI, it was confirmed that Depoortere will require surgery, resulting in a lengthy recovery of about four months which will rule him out for the remainder of the 2026-2027 rugby season.

This injury is a significant blow to both Depoortere and UBB, as the club is targeting success in the Champions Cup and the Bouclier de Brennus. Despite his young age, Depoortere has had an impressive season, scoring 14 tries in just 15 matches across all competitions, including three tests in the November tour and two matches in the Six Nations tournament with the French national team.
