Paris to Strengthen Oversight and Training of After-School Educators Following Violence Incidents

In response to recent cases of sexual violence in kindergartens in Paris's 11th arrondissement, the city administration has announced plans to enhance both recruitment standards and training for after-school care staff. Patrick Bloche, deputy in charge of education under Mayor Anne Hidalgo, outlined the initiative aimed at improving safety in these educational environments. Simultaneously, a national strike by animation workers is scheduled for Monday, November 17, potentially disrupting after-school care services. During the midday break from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, parents will be required to pick up their children if the périscolaire is closed, with some schools remaining open and others closing depending on location. This strike comes as educational officials work to ensure safer conditions amid the heightened attention to violence in French educational settings.
