Philippe Brun Launches PS Primary Campaign Focused on Workers' Rights and Social Issues

Philippe Brun, Socialist Party deputy from Eure, officially kicked off his campaign for the PS primary on July 19 in Vandœuvre, positioning himself as the candidate championing workers' rights. Emphasizing the urgency to reconnect with the working class, Brun stated, "My priority is to speak to employees and workers!" He highlighted the growing influence of the National Rally (RN) in traditionally leftist areas since 2024 and framed his campaign as a fight to reclaim these supporters.

Brun’s campaign slogan "Vivre mieux!" promises an additional 150 euros monthly for workers. His platform also addresses key social concerns including support for single mothers, tackling medical deserts, disability rights, fuel prices, and tax reductions. He plans to engage directly with citizens by touring markets across France to discuss these often overlooked issues.

Local Socialist figures have praised Brun’s focus on practical, grassroots issues. Anthony Perrin lauded his dedication to real-life challenges, while Stéphane Hablot noted Brun’s youth at 34 as part of a necessary PS rejuvenation. Meanwhile, experienced deputy Dominique Potier expressed worries about inconsistencies and the urgency surrounding the presidential race. Nancy’s mayor, Mathieu Klein, remains undecided on his backing but emphasized the importance of selecting a PS candidate who can mount a credible challenge to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, to avoid a second-round runoff against Marine Le Pen.

Brun’s campaign thus aims to revitalize the Socialist Party by directly addressing workers’ needs and social inequalities, countering the RN’s rise through concrete policy and grassroots outreach.
