A significant police operation took place on Friday morning in Paris' 16th arrondissement when a young man threatened to commit suicide at his home while armed. The individual, born in January 2004, barricaded himself in his residence near Boulevard Victor-Hugo and Rue de Longchamp, holding two handguns and expressing suicidal intentions. The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed the man was undergoing personal distress following a separation.

Law enforcement, including the Brigade de recherche et d’intervention (BRI), responded swiftly by establishing a security perimeter and closely monitoring the situation. As a precaution, a nearby school was locked down, though authorities later confirmed there was no immediate threat to passersby or students. After tense negotiations, the young man voluntarily exited his barricaded room and surrendered peacefully. He was subsequently taken into custody for possession of Category C firearms. No injuries were reported during the incident.

During the standoff, the man reportedly claimed to be an Israeli soldier, though he was not an active member of the military. The local police have opened an investigation into the case.
