Arc France, a historic glass manufacturer with nearly 3,900 employees, has formally requested judicial recovery due to a "severe and continuous" downturn in its market environment. The company held an extraordinary social and economic committee meeting in Arques, Pas-de-Calais, to confront the crisis. Arc France, which has a bicentennial legacy and has benefited from state refinancing efforts in recent years, highlights the vulnerability even established enterprises face under current market strains.

In contrast, Duralex, another venerable glassmaker, faced critical challenges in 2024 but has since reinvented itself as an employee-owned cooperative. It successfully raised five million euros through a fundraising campaign to modernize its facilities, demonstrating a possible pathway for industrial resilience.
