Renaud Muselier Reflects on Political Career, Reaffirms Ongoing National Engagement

Renaud Muselier, outgoing president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regional council, recently reflected on his eleven-year tenure, emphasizing his commitment to continue political engagement at the national level amid France's turbulent political landscape. In an in-depth interview, Muselier described his tenure as rewarding, noting significant achievements such as progress in environmental initiatives and strengthening the region’s reputation among mayors and within European circles.

Although stepping down from the presidency, Muselier will remain active as a regional advisor focused on the Olympic Games, European affairs, and the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Highlighting the importance of leadership transition, he credited his team’s collective efforts across fourteen political components for their successes.

Muselier strongly rejected the idea of retirement, asserting, “I am a political fighter,” and expressing his dedication to remain involved, particularly with the upcoming presidential and legislative elections. He also underscored the strengthened role of the Senate in current political dynamics.

Separately, France 2 and France Inter are launching a new weekly political program, "Franc-jeu," hosted by Benjamin Duhamel. Its first guest will be Raphaël Glucksmann, a candidate for the 2027 presidential election, signaling the heightened focus on national political discourse ahead of the vote.
