Severe Heatwave Deepens Water Restrictions in Southern France's Gard Region

Southern France is grappling with worsening drought conditions amid a persistent heatwave, leading to intensified water use restrictions in the Gard department. The ongoing high temperatures and lack of rainfall have triggered a rapid decline in water flows across critical river basins, including the Cèze, Gardons, Hérault, and Vidourle.

In response, Jérôme Bonet, the prefect of Gard, convened a Water Resource Committee and imposed stricter water usage limits.
