Eight departments in the Southeast of France, including Var and Drôme, are grappling with an intense heatwave combined with active wildfire incidents, leading to a heightened state of emergency. According to reports, temperatures soaring up to 40°C are forecasted particularly in the Var and Gard regions, exacerbating the risk of forest fires.

Firefighters have managed to declare the wildfire in the Aude department "fixed," but the situation remains precarious as active fires persist in the Var and Drôme counties.
