TGV-M High-Speed Train Launch Delayed to September, Revised Delivery Schedule Announced

The commercial rollout of France's next-generation high-speed train, the TGV-M, has been postponed again, with the launch now expected in early September, according to announcements from SNCF and manufacturer Alstom on May 29, 2026. Originally slated to be operational in time for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the deployment timeline has shifted significantly.

Two initial trainsets are scheduled for delivery starting in June, followed by six more by the end of August. Ultimately, a total of thirteen TGV-M trainsets are expected to be delivered by the close of 2026. Despite the delay in commercial service, these deliveries indicate ongoing progress in the project.

The TGV-M delay represents another setback in modernizing France’s high-speed rail fleet, impacting planned transportation upgrades linked to major national events. The postponement to the fall season pushes back the arrival of enhanced train technology that had been highly anticipated for making travel faster and more efficient.
