Thousands Rally in Paris Demanding End to Gaza Violence

On November 29, 2025, tens of thousands of people marched through Paris in a large demonstration supporting Palestinians amid ongoing conflict in Gaza. The protest, organized by around 80 NGOs, leftist political parties, and unions, stretched from Place de la République to Place de la Nation and saw participants chanting slogans such as "From Paris to Gaza, resistance!" and carrying Palestinian flags and banners demanding an end to the violence.

Anne Tuaillon, president of the France Palestine Solidarity Association (AFPS), criticized the ceasefire established on October 10 as fragile and ineffective, accusing Israel of daily violations including obstructing humanitarian aid and continued destruction of Gaza's infrastructure. She described the ceasefire as a "smokescreen" and highlighted the increasing Israeli settler violence and fast-paced colonization in the West Bank. Tuaillon urged for the imposition of sanctions on Israel as a means to enforce international law and called for a permanent ceasefire to end what she termed a genocide in Gaza.

The protest attracted notable political figures such as Jean-Luc Mélenchon and drew a diverse crowd including older participants like Saleha, 72, and younger protesters like Bertrand, 42, who expressed deep concern over the persistent violence and recent events in Jenin. The United Nations has also called for an investigation into alleged extrajudicial killings by Israeli forces in that area.

Despite the ceasefire brokered by the United States that led to Israeli troop withdrawals within Gaza, tensions and hostilities continue both inside Gaza and the occupied West Bank, fueling fear and humanitarian distress. Organizers reported several tens of thousands joined the march, though police did not release official attendance figures by day's end.

This mass demonstration illustrates sustained public concern and solidarity within France for the Palestinian situation, underscoring demands for stronger international action and a lasting resolution to the conflict.
