Top Cyclists Fine-Tune Diverse Preparations Ahead of 2026 Tour de France

As the 2026 Tour de France approaches from July 4 to 26, key favorites are adopting distinct strategies to peak for the race. Jonas Vingegaard, fresh off his Giro d'Italia victory, is training rigorously in the French Alps around Tignes to sharpen mountain form. Meanwhile, Tadej Pogacar is conducting altitude training in Spain's Sierra Nevada and plans to compete in the Tour de Suisse as a final tune-up. Notably, Pogacar and Vingegaard have only faced each other once since last year's Tour, during the European Championships where Vingegaard withdrew early.

Emerging French talent Paul Seixas is preparing for the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes starting June 7, a race viewed as demanding by cycling legend Cyrille Guimard, who advises caution. Seixas has done detailed reconnaissance of the Tour's sixth stage (Pau to Gavarnie-Gèdre), showing his ambition ahead of his debut Tour de France at age 19.
