Tributes Pour In as Former French Football Federation President Jean-Pierre Escalettes Dies at 90

Jean-Pierre Escalettes, former president of the French Football Federation (FFF), passed away on April 14, 2026, at the age of 90. His leadership from 2005 to 2010 was marked by notable highs and lows in French football, including overseeing the national team’s journey to the 2006 World Cup final and the disappointing campaign at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

During Escalettes’ presidency, France secured the hosting rights for the prestigious Euro 2016 tournament, an achievement reflecting his efforts to enhance the profile of French football internationally. Beyond his executive roles, Escalettes was deeply committed to the development and promotion of amateur football, having begun his own football journey as a player and educator at CA Riberac. He also held significant positions such as the presidency of the Dordogne District and the Aquitaine League.
