On November 1, 2025, French authorities arrested and charged two additional suspects in connection with last month's audacious jewel heist at the Louvre Museum, bringing the total number of individuals formally charged to five. The newly accused include a 37-year-old man with a prior criminal record involving theft, and a 38-year-old woman whose precise role in the crime has yet to be clarified by the Paris prosecutor's office.

According to Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau, the man faces charges of organized theft and conspiracy to commit organized theft, while the woman has been charged with complicity in organized theft and conspiracy. Both suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention, with the man awaiting a delayed hearing scheduled in the coming days. The woman appeared emotionally distressed in court, expressing fear for her children.

The Louvre heist, which occurred in seven minutes last month, involved the theft of jewels valued at approximately 88 million euros (around $102 million). The stolen items include historically significant pieces such as a crown and necklace linked to Empress Eugenie and Empress Marie-Louise, taken from the Apollo Gallery using a freight elevator. Despite the arrests, the precious jewels remain missing.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez has expressed confidence in the recovery of the stolen treasures. The initial suspects, two men arrested shortly after the heist, partially admitted involvement in the robbery. The investigation continues with five individuals now implicated in this meticulously executed theft that has captivated both national and international attention.
