Two New Arrests Made in Quentin Deranque Case as Police Say All Suspects Identified

The investigation into the death of Quentin Deranque, a 23-year-old far-right activist fatally beaten in Lyon on February 12, 2026, has recently seen significant developments. On March 4, authorities arrested two additional suspects, aged 22 and 26, bringing the total number of individuals detained in connection with the case to at least 13.

The arrests were made in the Lyon region and in the Aube department, according to police sources. These new detentions follow the earlier apprehensions of eleven individuals, among whom seven men are charged with "voluntary homicide" and one with "complicity" in the attack. All of those involved are believed to be linked to "Jeune Garde," an ultra-left movement officially dissolved in June 2025.

Police have confirmed they believe all responsible parties behind the violent assault have now been identified, a positive step forward in this high-profile inquiry. The attack took place during a conference at Sciences Po Lyon, where Deranque had been providing security. He succumbed to severe cranial injuries two days after the assault.

Further investigation is ongoing, including probing the potential reconstitution of the dissolved "Jeune Garde" group, which carries severe penalties, including up to three years in prison and substantial fines. Notably, two suspects were previously collaborators of a parliamentary deputy.
