L'Union Citoyenne Moissagaise (UCM) is spearheading an initiative to unify local political forces in Moissac as the 2026 municipal elections approach. The UCM plans to hold a citizen forum in October 2023, aimed at fostering collaboration among various political groups to provide a credible alternative to the incumbent National Rally (RN) administration.

Romain Lopez from the RN was elected as Moissac's mayor in 2020, garnering over 62% of the vote, which marked a significant shift in local politics as he became the first RN mayor in Tarn-et-Garonne. In light of this victory, Séverine Laurent from UCM highlighted the detrimental effects of political fragmentation, stating, "We are increasingly saying 'that's enough' and are committed to improving living conditions in Moissac." She emphasized the urgency for local political unity to combat the RN's divisive strategies and the administration's numerous unfulfilled promises.

The October forum will feature thematic workshops led by activists and experts, encouraging public input to shape the UCM's comprehensive municipal project. Laurent believes that a unified approach is essential, asserting, "Together, united, victory is possible," and reflecting the diverse colors of Moissac is crucial to this vision. The UCM's aim is to inspire hope within the community while focusing on inclusivity and collaboration to challenge the RN's governance effectively.
