Amazon to Open New Distribution Center in Illiers-Combray, Creating 1,000 Jobs in September 2026

Amazon has announced that it will open its 11th distribution center in France, located in Illiers-Combray, Eure-et-Loir, with operations starting in September 2026. This new facility represents an investment of over €150 million and is expected to create 1,000 permanent jobs. Equipped with the latest robotic technologies, it marks Amazon's continued expansion in the Centre-Val de Loire region, where it has invested over €3.5 billion since 2010 and employs more than 2,500 people.

The recruitment campaign for these jobs will begin in mid-June 2026, targeting local candidates, with special focus on disadvantaged groups such as the long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, youth, seniors, and RSA (income support) beneficiaries. Positions will mainly involve logistics tasks like receiving, storing, picking, packaging, and shipping orders, requiring no previous experience or qualifications. Entry-level salaries start at over €2,000 gross monthly, rising to over €2,500 after two years, supplemented by bonuses and benefits including extra paid leave for new parents.

This opening is part of Amazon's broader strategy involving over €15 billion in investments in France through 2029, aimed at generating more than 7,000 jobs nationwide and enhancing logistics capabilities to improve delivery times and reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, Amazon plans to invest €50 million by 2030 in employee training, providing recognized certifications through partnerships such as with AFPA (French national association for adult vocational training).
