On July 10, 2025, Barp officially inaugurated its first coworking space, marking a pivotal moment for local economic development. The historic event occurred on July 8, 2023, with the ceremonial laying of the first stone, attended by notable officials including Mayor Blandine Sarazin and sub-prefect Jean-Louis Amat. Located in the Eyrialis zone, the new coworking facility will comprise two buildings totaling 800 m², featuring office spaces ranging from 20 to 60 m², along with communal areas for meetings and relaxation.
This ambitious project, designed by architects Marc Ballay and Benoît Mahieu from the AMB firm, has a total cost of €1.995 million. It received substantial funding from the intercommunal community of Val de l’Eyre, contributing €1.6 million, along with a €300,000 grant from the state, additional funds from a water agency, and €50,000 from European resources.
The community has increasingly recognized the need for flexible working environments, as illustrated by the success of coworking spaces in nearby Belin-Béliet. Bruno Bureau, president of the intercommunal community, noted that initial doubts about such facilities have been dispelled, illustrating a clear demand for collaborative workspaces in the area. The design of the coworking space aims to enhance interaction and collaboration among its users, fostering a dynamic work culture.
