BNP Paribas Announces Governance Restructure Ahead of Strategic Plan

BNP Paribas is restructuring its governance to align with its new strategic plan, effective September 1, 2025.

Key Points

  • • BNP Paribas restructures governance to enhance collaboration.
  • • New entity created within CPBS for Eurozone commercial banks.
  • • Yannick Jung appointed deputy general manager of new entity.
  • • CIB division to have an executive president and a general director.

BNP Paribas has unveiled a significant restructuring of its governance as part of preparations for its upcoming strategic plan, set to be implemented on September 1, 2025. The reorganization aims to enhance collaboration and integration across its various business lines, particularly within the Commercial, Personal Banking & Services (CPBS) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) divisions.

One of the notable changes includes the creation of a new entity within the CPBS division, which will unify the bank's commercial operations across the Eurozone. This new structure will encompass banks such as the Banque Commerciale en France, BNL banca commerciale in Italy, BNP Paribas Fortis in Belgium, and BGL BNP Paribas in Luxembourg. According to the bank, this arrangement is expected to foster mutualization in investment sharing, industrialization, and technological resources, while also improving cross-selling opportunities with CIB and Investment & Protection Services.

Yannick Jung, previously the head of CIB Global Banking, has been appointed deputy general manager overseeing this new entity, working under Thierry Laborde, who is in charge of CPBS. In the CIB division, governance will now comprise an executive president and a general director—Yann Gérardin, currently deputy general manager of the group, will take on the role of executive president, and Olivier Osty will serve as the general director of CIB.

These strategic governance modifications reflect BNP Paribas's objective to better position itself within the market and are pivotal as the bank gears up for its future initiatives as detailed in the forthcoming strategic plan.
